Networking Opportunities

Students can take part in many opportunities for networking and professional development through the Climate School.

  • Each year the Climate School hosts the Sustainability Careers Reception, which brings dozens of practitioners from across sectors and industries together in midtown Manhattan, to share their work and professional backgrounds with students from the Climate School's partner programs. Round table discussions are followed by a catered reception.

  • Sustainability Skill-Building seminars offer students and alumni practical skills that are specific to sustainability and environmental careers. The half-day, non-credit seminars are free.

  • The Alumni Mentoring Program connects students with alumni, who help students as they pursue climate and environmental sustainability careers. Students are matched with a mentor for the calendar year. The program is administered by the Climate School and serves students and alumni from academic programs at partner Schools. These academic programs include degrees offered and conferred by Columbia College, the School of General Studies, the School of International and Public Affairs, the School of Professional Studies, as well as the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

  • The annual All Ivy Environmental and Sustainable Development Career Fair. Each year, the eight Ivy League schools come together to produce a unique and inspiring career fair that provides companies unparalleled access to talent with the skills and knowledge to address the complex sustainability and climate challenges of our global economy.

  • Courses & Events: Each semester partner programs host talks by leading practitioners who discuss their work and their organizations, and who offer career advice. Networking events among students and alumni also provide a setting for learning about the job market from colleagues in the field.
